Additional Information

Program Description:

This is an evening symposium focusing on the brain from acute insult to brain death and beyond.  We will discuss the latest guidelines and interventions when caring for the acute stroke patient to minimize injury to the brain.
This will be followed by discussion of when brain injury is so severe, irreversible damage ensues, and how to best to approach the concept of organ donation.
This will include brain death as well as donation after circulatory death.
Finally, we will discuss how to provide care for the caregiver participating in stressful care settings.

Target Audience:

Healthcare professionals caring for patients with acute stroke, organ donation, or any stressful working environment.
